Skin Resilience and How to Adapt in Your 50s

Skin Resilience and How to Adapt in Your 50s

After 5 decades of ageing and sun exposure, your skin will probably show it, even with the best care during your younger years. Prominent wrinkles, dry skin, redness, and pigmentation are coming at you hard and can lead to making you feel uncomfortable in your own skin.

Here, at Clinetix, we understand how disheartening the ageing process can be as we know your skin is more than your beauty, it is your confidence. If you have started having the first thoughts of aesthetic medical procedures and wondering which treatments may be right for you, then this is the blog for you. Read on to find out more…

Dr Simon says “In today’s world of medical aesthetics there is such amazing work that can be done structurally to the face using fillers to replace the loss of bone density and fat, that you don’t always have to ‘rush-in’ to find the best treatment options when often-times attending to your skin health can be the best approach.”

As a society we are all remaining active and productive well into our fifties and sixties. We continue to have active social lives and many of us at least try to remain healthy exercising and being more conscious about our diets. However, our faces and bodies continue to age, the result being that mentally and physically we still have the lives we had when we were, for example, in our thirties, but the reflection in the mirror is that of someone one or two decades older.

Most Loved Treatments in Your 50s

In your 50s, you experience more volume loss in the face and appear more tired looking when you wake up. To offset this, many of the procedures are focussed on adding volume, while others are used to address concerns beyond the face.

Every procedure can be used for every age group. But it’s what you’re trying to achieve that may change. Whether it’s something as well-known as injectables or something newer like radiofrequency microneedling, the right plan for you can be as tailored for your skin as it needs to be.

Here are a few of the other treatments that may be worth trying in your 50s that can help you look natural, timeless, and vibrant:

• Facials

• Profhilo® Body Skin Booster Treatment

• Forehead & Frown Lines Liquid Facelift

• Laser Peel for Sun Damage

• Spider Veins (Rosacea)

• Non-surgical Facelift Neck Skin Tightening

• Energy-based treatments Morpheus8 and Utherapy®

• Laser Skin Resurfacing

• Medical Grade Skincare

How can dermal fillers help?

An injection by an experienced medical aesthetic practitioner can produce a smooth and natural appearance to the face with a minimum of bruising, swelling, and discomfort. As a very loose rule of thumb for every decade of life, add one. So for anyone of you in your 50s it would be 5 + 1 for 6 syringes of filler. Just enough to replace volume and no more.

How long before I need to do it again?

To improve your aesthetic appearance and health, we typically recommend coming back in 9, 12 or 18 months. For a 55 year old, it’s likely to be 5 or 6 syringes the first time and every year thereafter, 1 maybe 2 syringes just to maintain that look.
