Pigmentation
There are a number of causes of irregular pigmentation in the skin. It may be hormonally related, sun damage or trauma related. Whatever the cause there is usually something we can do to improve the appearance or even completely remove the pigmentation problem. The underlying cause is usually related to the melanocytes, the pigment cells in the bottom layer of the epidermis.
Treatments to improve irregular skin pigmentation are performed in our Bothwell and Glasgow clinics by our expert aesthetic therapists.
Irregular skin pigmentation often known as ‘hyperpigmenation’ is when an area of the skin appears darker than the surrounding area. It occurs when the cells that produce melanin are activated either because they are unhealthy or damaged.
There are a number of treatments that can effect these cells including lasers, phototherapy, Intense Pulsed Light (IPL), topical skin care and chemical peels. For pigmentation problems we recommend booking a consultation with one of our aesthetic therapists in the first instance so we can analyse your skin and arrive at an appropriate treatment plan.
