Blemishes, pigmentation and redness in the skin all contribute to an aged appearance. Skin Rejuvenation with intense pulsed light will soften blemishes and redness in the skin as well as stimulate new collagen growth. Treatments result in an even toned and smoother skin, with a reduction in fine lines and wrinkles.
Skin rejuvenation treatments with Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) are performed in our Glasgow and Bothwell clinics by our expert aesthetic therapists.
Achieve a more even skin tone with IPL Photorejuvenation. Photorejuvenation is a gentle treatment that removes skin imperfections and stimulates collagen and elastic fibre production. At Clinetix we use the Lumenis M22 for IPL Photorejuvenation treatments as the unique IPL technology gently and effectively eliminates spots, discolourations and unwanted blood vessels.
IPL Photorejuvenation provides remarkable results on a range of skin conditions including age and sun spots, freckles, birthmarks, rosacea and broken capillaries.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is IPL?
IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light. It is a medical application that uses the properties of high energy light and their effect on tissues to produce a desired outcome.
How does it work?
The energy is transmitted across the skin and is absorbed by tissues in the body. The target depends on the type of light used but the result is that the tissue heats up quickly. In the case of thread vein treatments the target is the blood vessels and in pigmentation the target is the melanin. The heat cases destruction of the tissue so removes redness from blood vessels and lightens pigmentation
Is it Safe?
IPL was originally developed to treat vascular lesions and has been approved by the FDA as a treatment since 2005. Since then it has developed to treat a large number of conditions including hair removal, skin laxity, photorejuvenation, rosecea and melasma. Like all medical interventions there are some risks however in expert hands IPL treatment is very safe and adverse events are rare. Your practitioner will explain the potential risks as well as the potential benefits at your consultation.
Does it Hurt?
The treatment requires a number of applications or “pulses” to be applied to the area. Most people describe the sensation of each pulse as a “flick” or “pinch”
How long do the results last?
Once an area of redness or pigmentation is treated it should be gone for good. However as your skin ages you will develop further areas that may require more treatment.
How many treatment are required?
A course is usually recommended for most indications and it could be from 2 to 6 treatments. Your practitioner will assess you at the initial consultation and advice you how many treatments may be required.
Is there any downtime?
No. You can continue your normal activities immediately after treatment. It is recommended to use an SpF after treatment on sun exposed areas.
How much does the treatment cost?
The cost of treatment varies depending on area treated, number of sessions and complexity of treatment. Typically treatments with a therapist start from £70 and treatments with a Doctor from £100
