Training at Clinetix
Wednesday 28/9/2011
Clinetix has a fairly simple philosophy towards most of the things we do. Simply, we put excellence above all else. We aim to achieve excellence of service from the minute a client phones us to the consultation to the treatment to the follow up and beyond. We don't always achieve it, if we did we'd have nothing left to do and would probably get a bit bored. What makes it so exciting is that we constantly reflect on everything we do and ask ourselves the question "how can I do that better next time?" There is always something that can be improved on, no matter how big or small.
We've been running training courses for some time now. Every time we train a student for anything at all we give them a questionnaire that asks for negative things about our course. We ask "what did we do wrong?" and "how can we improve this course?"
Because of the feedback we have received from these forms we have been able to address the concerns and each time we run a course we think we've done a little bit better than the time before. We've reduced our maximum delegate numbers from eight to six, and then to four. We've increased the amount of time spent on live demonstrations and the hands on practice sessions are closely supervised one to one with our most experienced injectors. We have added a comprehensive session on marketing and business strategy. Our course handouts have got larger and are now available in electronic format, and for the next course delegates will receive some literature to read and hopefully reduce the amount of time spent of pharmacology on the day!
One delegate recently even asked if we could introduce an exam component! I'm not going to do that and I'll explain why. The whole day is an exam. That's one of the reasons the delegate numbers are so small, it helps us to assess you. If I felt you needed an pass an exam, then you're not good enough for me to pass you. ( I do that occasionally )
Our last course had two last minute cancellations making it a one to two weekend and It was an absolute pleasure to teach two highly motivated and extremely promising practitioners, an ITU nurse from Glasgow and a Consultant in Breast and reconstructive surgery from Edinburgh. I'm looking forward to working with them over the next three months as they go through our mentorship program. (We offer that to all our students too!)
Excellence? Well it'd be conceited to say we're the best.....but we're working on it!
Simon
