Regulation of Independent Healthcare Clinics
Independent clinics are defined in the National Health Service (Scotland) Act 1978 as clinics that are not part of a hospital and from which a medical practitioner, dental practitioner, registered nurse, registered midwife or dental care professional (clinical dental technician, dental hygienist, dental nurse, dental technician, dental therapist, orthodontic therapist). provides a service, which is not part of the National Health Service. The term ‘service’ includes consultations, investigations and treatments.
Clinetix Rejuvenation is an independent healthcare clinic and as such is progressing through the registration process. As of the 1st of April it will be an offence to practice aesthetic medicine outwith a registered clinic. This process has been implemented to improve the safety of the public when undergoing procedures.
We have long been waiting for a form of regulation to be applied to independent clinics such as Clinetix and are pleased that a government process is now underway in Scotland. As of April 2017, all independent clinics such as Clinetix that provide medical consultations or treatments including Botox, Dermal Fillers, Laser treatments, Chemical peels etc. will be required to register with Healthcare Improvement Scotland (HIS).
